Abstract
In drilling activities, both vertical, directional and horizontal wells. When the drilling operation is underway, it is hoped that it will run smoothly without any problems occurring that could hamper drilling activities. Sometimes problems that can hinder drilling activities include stuck pipes. Stuck pipes are a major challenge in the world of drilling which is almost always encountered in the oil industry, causing a large loss of drilling time and costs. In general, there are three types of stuck pipe, namely differential sticking, mechanical sticking and key seat. What will be evaluated in this research is the stuck pipe problem that occurred in well E when the 8 1/2" route reached a depth of 4392 ftMD. So it is necessary to carry out an analysis to determine the type and factors causing the stuck pipe as well as to determine the pinch mechanism that occurs by analyzing several aspects, namely lithological aspects, drill hole geometry aspects, drilling parameter aspects and drilling mud aspects. After carrying out the analysis, it was discovered that the cause of the stuck pipe in well E in the EN field was mechanical pipe sticking because the pressure difference between the formation pressure was greater than the hydrostatic pressure, thus making the drill string stick to the formation wall. From this analysis it is known that the type of stuck pipe in well E in the EN field is mechanical pipe sticking. In this well, the immersion method was used to overcome the stuck pipe and was assisted by repeated pulling. The problem in well E in the EN field was successfully resolved by using the immersion method with Black Magic SFT solution and this effort was successful in freeing the stuck pipe.
