Abstract
Roads are land vehicle access routes/areas that have a crucial contribution to land transportation in the lives of futuristic communities. Economic growth, technological developments and population numbers have resulted in many activities. The increase in facilities and infrastructure for population activities affects facilities and fulfillment of needs, but is not balanced with the availability of adequate vehicles and transportation infrastructure, resulting in traffic conflicts on roads in the city, especially on Jalan Tuanku Tambusai. Pekanbaru. A common problem currently occurring is traffic stagnation/congestion that is affecting road users. The aim of this research is to analyze the characteristics of side obstacles in the form of parking and pedestrians and the performance of traffic flow on Jalan Tuanku Tambusai. The research used the MKJI 1997 method to obtain values for traffic volume, side obstacles, degree of saturation and level of service, carried out over 4 days, namely Sunday 6 August 2023, Monday 7 August 2023, Wednesday 16 August 2023 and Friday 18 August 2023. Based on existing conditions, the value of side obstacles at peak hours at 09.00 - 10.00 WIB on the west - east route (B), with a pedestrian value (PED) of 174 incidents, parking vehicles (PSV) 63 incidents, vehicles exiting/entering (EEV) 559 incidents and slow vehicles (SMV) 7 incidents, with a total frequency of 544.1 occurrences, so the side obstacle class is categorized as High (H). On the Tuanku Tambusai road the traffic performance level is based on the degree of saturation (DS) , on Sundays in the east-west direction (A) with parking on street, the degree of saturation value is 0.80 with service level D and without parking on street, the degree of saturation value is 0.68 with service level C. From the results The degree of saturation capacity is when the existing conditions are unstable, whereas in conditions where there is no parking, the ideal or stable traffic flow is below the DS value = 0.75
