Abstract

Currently, online gambling crime cases are rife in communities throughout the world, especially in the Kuantan Singingi district. Online gambling is a cyber crime because it involves committing a crime. Online gambling uses the internet network and electronic devices as a medium to commit online gambling crimes. This research was conducted at the Kuantan Singing Police Station, and this research conducted interviews with the perpetrators and law enforcers in the legal area. Apart from that, this research also studied books, applicable laws and regulations which were related to the writing of this thesis. The main problem of this research is to examine and explore the factors that cause online gambling in the Kuantan Singing legal area and to find out the police's efforts in tackling online gambling in the Kuantan Singing police legal area. The results obtained in this research are that there are several factors that influence the perpetrator to commit this crime, namely environmental factors, economic factors, trial or fad factors, entertainment factors and internet abuse factors. In efforts to handle this crime, preventive efforts, repressive efforts and curative efforts were carried out by the Kuantan Singingi Police. Keywords:
