Abstract

In the current digital era, the rapid growth in telecommunications and data communication has created an urgent need for fast and efficient network systems. Computer network security has become a fundamental aspect of protecting the integrity, Confidentiality, and availability of data in various daily activities and business transactions. One of the main threats to information system security is Denial of Service (DoS) attacks, which can cause substantial damage by consuming system resources and disrupting the provided services. This research aims to develop and implement network security strategies at Kominfo Siak by applying three main methods: Port Knocking, Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), and Intrusion Detection System (IDS). Port Knocking is implemented to control access to specific ports, DMZ is used to separate and protect internal systems from unauthorized external access, and IDS is applied to detect and provide early warnings of suspicious network activities. This study uses Mikrotik RouterOS as the primary platform in designing a comprehensive Firewalll configuration. The effectiveness of the applied methods is evaluated by comparing the security conditions before and after implementation. The results of this research are expected to significantly enhance network security at Kominfo Siak, reduce potential losses from cyberattacks, and contribute to better network security management in the organizational context.
