Abstract
Gastrointestinal tract disease is a disease that is often suffered by people of all ages, if not treated immediately it will cause the disease to get worse and can even cause death. Identifying digestive tract diseases can be an obstacle if the known symptom information is inaccurate, so it requires a diagnosis from a specialist doctor. However, specialist doctors are difficult to find in areas far from urban areas. An expert system that implements the certainty factor method can be used as an alternative in diagnosing digestive tract diseases so that it can help general medical personnel other than specialist doctors who are in areas far from urban areas. An expert system is a system that uses human knowledge recorded in a computer using knowledge, facts and thinking techniques to solve problems that usually require human expertise. The certainty factor (CF) method is a method that is able to define the level of certainty of a rule or fact in describing an expert's belief in the problem being faced. Based on the results of sample data accuracy tests carried out using data from 10 sample data to determine the level of accuracy and error rate, it can be concluded that the system accuracy and expert testing show accurate results of 90%. The conclusion obtained through the research that has been carried out is that the expert system using the certainty factor method to diagnose digestive tract diseases has functioned as expected and can be used to diagnose real cases.
