Abstract

Tanjungpinang City is a densely populated coastal area and serves as the capital of Riau Islands Province. The intense activities in this region have led to the degradation of coastal ecosystems due to extensive land use. As a result of both human activities and natural factors, Tanjungpinang City is vulnerable to abrasion. It is crucial to conduct mapping in Tanjungpinang City to determine the level of coastal abrasion vulnerability, which can then be used as a basis for mitigation efforts in managing coastal and marine areas. This research aims to map the abrasion vulnerability in coastal areas and identify the factors contributing to abrasion in Tanjungpinang City. This study employs a deductive approach with a quantitative descriptive research method. The analytical techniques used include overlay analysis, weighting, and scoring. The analysis produces numerical data complemented by descriptive explanations to provide a comprehensive understanding of the results. The findings of this research indicate that the coastal areas of Tanjungpinang City have two levels of abrasion vulnerability: low and medium. The area classified as having low abrasion vulnerability is 882.13 hectares, while the area with medium abrasion vulnerability is 458,90 hectares. The factors contributing to abrasion in Tanjungpinang City include wave height and land-use changes, while factors that have less influence are land reclamation and current speed.
