Abstract
The water contained in crude oil can cause problems in the production process. This is because water will form an emulsion in crude oil. To overcome the emulsion problem that occurs in the Y field, researchers will conduct a demulsification test using the bottle test method. Demulsifier performance is most often tested using the bottle test method, which involves mixing various demulsifiers with an emulsion sample and observing the results. Demulsification testing using the bottle test method was conducted at demulsifier concentrations of 0.2 ml, 0.4 ml, 0.6 ml, and 0.8 ml and test temperatures of 60°C, 70°C, and 80°C. There are two types of demulsifiers used, namely synthetic demulsifiers and biodemulsifiers. The synthetic demulsifier used is chemical-based, namely modified polymeric alkoxylate, while the biodemulsifier used is based on black leachate which is more environmentally friendly. The performance of the demulsifier is seen based on the highest separation of water from the emulsion and the BS&W value obtained below 0.5%. The results showed that the use of biodemulsifiers was more effective than the use of synthetic demulsifiers. The best test results were obtained from the biodemulsifier sample at 80°C with a concentration of 0.8 ml separating 40 ml of water and BS&W of 1%, while the synthetic demulsifier with a concentration of 0.8 ml separated 33 ml of water and BS&W of 4.6%.
