Abstract

The need for electrical energy is increasing along with industrial progress. One method used to generate electrical energy is by converting radiant energy from sunlight through solar cells or photovoltaics. Solar cells function as a tool to convert sunlight into electrical energy. Pekanbaru, a city in Indonesia, has a high ambient temperature, ranging from 25° to 35° Celsius. Weather changes have a significant impact on the performance of solar panels, which are one of the most important renewable energy sources. This study aims to determine the effect of weather changes on the performance of solar panels and to determine in which weather conditions the solar panels perform best. The study was conducted for 1 day at 09.00 WIB to 16.00 WIB, in different weather conditions, namely: sunny, rainy and cloudy weather. Data collected from different weather conditions showed that during sunny weather, the performance of solar panels was higher than during cloudy weather, and during cloudy weather the performance of solar panels was higher than during rainy weather. From the results of the study, it can be seen that weather changes have an effect on the performance of solar panels, as well as the parameter values of solar panels. The highest parameter value of solar panel performance is when the weather is sunny, the highest parameter value is obtained Open voltage (voc) 36.1 (W), Short circuit current (isc) 5.5 (A), maximum power value (Pmax) 39.02 (W), fill factor 0.876, Power output value (Pout) 167.6 (W), and efficiency value 14.32%. Keywords: Solar Panel, Performance, Weather Change, Temperature.
