Abstract

The large number of heavy vehicles plying land routes in Indonesia causes roads to become potholes and damage. Apart from that, local rubber market prices have decreased. Therefore, the use of natural rubber is modified into natural rubber modified asphalt which is expected to increase the market price of natural rubber and improve the composition of asphalt. This research aims to determine the proportion of the mixture of ingredients that will be used as a mixture of AC-BC, so that it can determine the Marshall characteristics of natural rubber modified asphalt with several variations in immersion of the test object. The research method used is an experimental type which will be carried out in the Talang Jerinjing laboratory. With variations in natural rubber modified asphalt 5,4%; 5,5% ; 5,6% ; 5,8% and 6%. With a mixture proportion of 24% coarse aggregate, 46% medium aggregate and 30% stone ash originating from the Quarry in the Taman Raja, Batang Asam, Tanjung Jabung, Jambi, will be mixed with natural rubber modified asphalt produced by PT. Bumi Mulia Perkasa with 60/70 pen asphalt plus 7% rubber content. Samples of 60 test objects were made. The test results showed that the addition of variations in the content of natural rubber modified asphalt and the length of soaking duration greatly influenced the marshall characteristics. Therefore, the best soaking that meets Marshall's 5 parameters is found in 30 minute and 60 minute soaking. Meanwhile, for 12 hours and 24 hours immersion, there are several variations in the content of natural rubber modified asphalt whose stability, VIM and flow do not meet Marshall characteristics.
