Abstract

Tenayan Raya District, Pekanbaru City is designated as a Development Area (WP) IV which has a function direction as a residential area, industrial activity center, warehousing activity center, trade area, city government office area, tourism area, and agricultural area. In addition, the Tenayan Raya sub-district is an industrial zone which will be planned as the Tenayan Industrial Area (KIT) which will increase the very rapid rate of population growth and as the population increases, the need for housing will also increase. The problem of this research is how the spatial pattern of the growth of residential areas in Tenayan Raya District. The purpose of this research is to examine and analyze the spatial patterns of growth of residential areas in Tenayan Raya District. The method used is GIS observation and analysis using a base map of Tenayan Raya District. The results of this study based on the analysis of the physical capabilities ofsettlement land, there are four indicators, namely slope, soil type, geology, and climatology. Based on population density analysis, the distribution ofsettlement growth locations is the highest in the Rejosarisub-district with a total density of 3699 people/km2 and the lowest in the Melebung sub-district with 18 people/km2 . The spatial pattern ofthe growth of residential areas in Tenayan Raya District is linear or elongated to follow the road. Spatial patterns, Settlements, Land Use, Population density.
