Abstract

The existence of industry in an area, both large and small scale, will influence and have an effect on changes, especially the socio-economic conditions of the people in that environment. The development of human resources and community participation in national development is the objective of industrial development. The establishment of PT. Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper in the Pangkalan Kerinci District area can be utilized in social and economic changes related to development. This study aims to understand the influence of PT. Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper on Socio-economic Conditions in Pangkalan Kerinci District. The data used in this study are data from respondents through questionnaires and field observations. This research uses descriptive research with quantitative analysis. Data collection methods are field observations and questionnaires. Based on the results of the t test, the independent variable, namely the existence of the industry, has a significance of <0.05. So it can be concluded that the independent variable has a significant effect on the dependent variable with an explanation based on the results of the t test, the variable obtained a t count value of 2.245 > 1.655 t table with a significant level of 0.025 <0.05. Based on the test results of the coefficient of determination (R2) shows that the value of R2 is 0.713, which means that 71.3% of the socioeconomic conditions variable (Y) influences the existence of the industry variable (X). it can be concluded that the existence of PT. Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper has a positive impact on the socio- economic community of Pangkalan Kerinci District, where the social aspect is seen from Education and Health while the economic aspect is seen from income and labor.
