Abstract

The population growth of Indragiri Hulu Regency continues to increase every year. In addition, the existing waste management has not run optimally causing a lot of waste piles. The increase in waste generation while waste management is not carried out in an integrated manner, and without appropriate waste management facilities will add to the workload of the landfill and reduce the capacity of the landfill. It is very important to consider the ability of the landfill to support waste management activities. So it is necessary to study the capacity of the Pematang Reba Landfill in Indragiri Hulu Regency based on land capacity which can be used as a scenario for handling waste in Indragiri Hulu Regency. The purpose of this research is to determine the capacity requirements for the Pematang Reba landfill in Indragiri Hulu Regency. So from this analysis it can be seen in what year the Pematang Rebas landfill will experience an overload. The data used in this study are profile data of Indragiri Hulu Regency, population, amount of waste generation and the existing condition of landfills. This study uses a descriptive research type with quantitative analysis aimed at describing the condition of the waste generation rate and also the estimation of the landfill capacity needs in the form of numbers and graphics. The results show that the amount of waste generated in 2022 is 700,427 liters/day and will increase in 2031 to 779,191 liters/day. At the end of the 2031 plan, the capacity of the landfill without reduction efforts is 1,695,509 m3/year with a land requirement of 13 Ha. Meanwhile, with the scenario of reducing it to 796,889.07 m3/year, the area needed is reduced to 6.11 Ha. In general, with waste reduction efforts, there will be a reduction in the need for carrying capacity in 2031 of 898,620 m3 equivalent to a reduction in the need for land area of 6.89 Ha. Therefore, it is necessary to expand the landfill area or relocate it to a new landfill to accommodate waste
