Abstract
This study is motivated by the problem of students’ self-esteem in grade X at MAN 1 Pekanbaru. This is indicated by the fact that there are some students who lack confidence in the learning process with several symptoms such as: there are some students who do not dare to come to the front of the class, do not dare to answer questions, do not dare to express opinions and do not participate actively during the learning process. This study aims to investigate the influence of intelligence and family environment on students’ self-esteem at MAN 1 Pekanbaru. This is a quantitative study with a correlational approach. The population of the study consists of 317 students with a sample of 80 students. The data collection techniques of the study are questionnaires and documentation. The results of the study show that the result of the hypothesis test value is 0.000 < 0.05, so that Ha is accepted, it means that there is an influence of intelligence and family environment on students’ self-esteem at MAN 1 Pekanbaru. The magnitude of the influence can be seen in the summary table, that is the R square value of 0.561 or 56.1%. Thus, it can be concluded that the students’ self-esteem is influenced by the intelligence and family environment by 56.1% which is included in the "quite strong" category.
