Abstract
Geothermal fields are a strategic source of renewable energy and have the potential to provide sustainable electricity supply. One of the key factors in geothermal field management is an in-depth understanding of the fluid flow characteristics in production wells. However, in geothermal field operations, the lack of understanding of steam and brine fluid mass flow rates in production wells can lead to low productivity and efficiency of geothermal energy production. Therefore, this research becomes relevant and important to address these challenges. In this study, the Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) experimental method with Macro Excel as simple CFD is used to analyze the mass flow of steam and brine fluids in Well X. CFD is a powerful numerical approach to modeling and visualizing fluid flow. It utilizes mathematical equations and computers to solve fluid flow problems in a simulated manner, which allows researchers to accurately understand the fluid flow behavior in the well. The results show that Well X has a total production fluid flow rate of 125 kg/s with the dominance of hot water (brine). The modest pressure and temperature distributions indicate a good distribution pattern that provides insight into the production conditions and well performance, in addition, this is also why the productivity of Well X is considered good.
