Abstract
Analysis of diluent injection performance on heavy oil production rate in production well T using Prosper software is an important topic in the study of increasing heavy oil production. The background of this research arises from various challenges faced in the oil and gas industry, especially in handling thick heavy oil that is difficult to pump through production wells. In an effort to overcome this problem, diluent injection techniques have been introduced as one solution to reduce the viscosity of heavy oil. Diluent is injected through tubing and the oil will rise through the ESP pump. The use of Prosper software in this analysis plays an important role in the simulation and optimization of the diluent injection process with ESP successfully increasing heavy oil production in well T with a diluent injection rate of 1000 and oil production increasing from 200 STB/day to 1116.28 STB/DAY. Analysis of the Influx Performance Relationship (IPR) curve shows an increase in oil flow efficiency after diluent injection. Diluents work by reducing the viscosity of oil, facilitating its flow from the reservoir to the production well. Challenges in implementing diluent injection include even distribution and periodic injection adjustments. Laboratory studies, reservoir simulations, periodic monitoring, economic analysis, technology development, and collaboration are recommended to optimize the use of diluent injection and increase heavy oil production sustainably.
