Abstract

Production results may decrease due to wells that have been in production for a long time and are no longer able to lift oil to the surface using primary and secondary methods. The amount of oil remaining in the reservoir is due to the narrowing of the rock pores which causes oil to be trapped in it. Efforts that can be made to reduce remaining oil in the reservoir can be done by implementing the Enhanced oil recovery (EOR) method. Enhanced oil recovery (EOR) is an oil production stage that is used to increase the amount of hydrocarbons obtained from a field. Polymers commonly used are divided into synthetic polymers and biopolymers. In this study using synthetic polymers QR-1 and QL-2 or superabsorbent polymers originating from the Nuoer Biological Company located in the yellow river delta, China. The purpose of this study was to screen the two polymers with various concentrations of polymer and various concentrations of formation water salinity on a laboratory scale. The parameters tested in this study were compatibility, density, viscosity, shear rate and thermal stability. The results obtained in this test were that there were no lumps in the QR-01 polymer at each concentration, while in the Ql-02 polymer there were lumps such as colloids and sand at a salinity concentration of 20,000 ppm. In the viscosity test, the viscosity value increased with increasing polymer concentration. Polymer with a concentration of 6000 ppm has the highest viscosity value of 2.54 cP. The viscosity value decreased which was not significant along with the increase in the value of salinity, shear rate and thermal stability test.
