Abstract

In the oil world there are several problems, especially in the oil field, namely the occurrence of the paraffin phase in petroleum production. The paraffin phase is a phase consisting of paraffin hydrocarbon compounds that are formed at a certain temperature. This paraffin phase can clog the petroleum production pipeline system, causing significant economic losses in the petroleum industry. To overcome this problem, biosurfactants are an alternative that can be used to overcome paraffin wax. Biosurfactants are surfactants obtained from natural materials such as plants or animals. This study conducted density, viscosity, pH, and compatibility tests. In the density and viscosity test, there are three temperature variations for density testing at temperatures (50 ° C, 60 ° C, and 70 ° C) at a temperature of 50 ° C, the density was recorded at 1.018 gr / ml, then decreased to 1.016 gr / ml at a temperature of 60 ° C and further to 0.997 gr / ml at a temperature of 70 ° C. For viscosity testing at a temperature of 50 ° C, the fluid has a viscosity of 2.24 cP which is a high viscosity value, but when the temperature is increased to 60 ° C, the fluid viscosity decreases by 1.69 cP due to the increase in temperature. At the highest temperature, namely 70 ° C, the fluid viscosity drops to 1.40 cP indicating that the fluid is thinner at higher temperatures.
