Abstract
Semiotic Analysis of Pandora's Illusion in Avatar: The Way Of Water Film has other functions besides entertaining, namely as a medium or platform for conveying information, educating or inviting the public. Films also tell stories that are not true or are often called fiction which are delivered for entertainment purposes only. Roland Barthes focuses his study on signs, namely there are two so-called signs (two orders of significations). The first sign is called the denotative meaning, which is a sign that is related between the icons and the iconics. In explanation of the framework that Roland Barthes made, connotation is also known as myth or the basis itself. Myth has the function of translating the truth from symbols or values that exist at a certain time in society. Illusion concerns the relationship between the human inner world (consciousness) and the external world. The relationship between the inner world and the outside world is mediated by the five senses through perception, like the avatar movie. This research is a qualitative research with semiotic analysis methods.
