Abstract

Concrete is a primary construction material whose strength is greatly influenced by the curing process, which is the method used to maintain the moisture of the concrete during the initial setting period. This study aims to evaluate the effects of water soaking and curing compound methods on the compressive strength of concrete using a mixture of andesite and sandstone aggregates. This research uses an experimental method conducted at the PT. Virajaya Riau Putra Laboratory by creating 12 concrete cylinder samples. The aggregate mixture includes andesite and sandstone. The samples were then subjected to different curing methods: water soaking and curing compound application. The compressive strength tests were performed after curing for 28 days. The results of the average compressive strength tests at 28 days show that concrete with water soaking and andesite aggregate has the highest value at 32.34 MPa. Concrete with water soaking and sandstone aggregate has a compressive strength of 10.74 MPa after 28 days. Concrete with curing compound and andesite aggregate has a compressive strength of 22.16 MPa. Concrete with curing compound and sandstone aggregate has a compressive strength of 8.9 MPa. Water soaking is more effective than curing compound treatment.
