Abstract

Climate change caused by global warming is increasingly affecting nature and human lives, such as declining water quality and shrinking forest lands. The construction sector is one of the largest consumers of energy and water globally, hence the imperative for applying green construction concepts. This study aims to assess the implementation level of green construction in subsidized housing products in Pekanbaru City based on the concept of conservation and efficiency in energy and water utilization using the EDGE (Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies) method. The research was conducted across 3 subsidized housing locations in Pekanbaru City. The method employed quantitative techniques by simulating through the EDGE application. Data collection involved gathering secondary data comprising work drawings (as built drawings), 3D Sketchup documents, and other supporting documents. The data was then input into the EDGE application to compute energy and water efficiency levels. The results showed all three housing locations met the minimum EDGE standard, delivering over 20% savings in both energy and water. Graha Timur Raya Housing achieved 32.72% energy efficiency and 33.96% water efficiency, Dempo Residence Housing achieved 20.11% energy efficiency and 29.25% water efficiency, while Pesona Budi Luhur Housing achieved 31.40% energy efficiency and 33.50% water efficiency. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that Pekanbaru City's subsidized housing products have implemented green construction concepts in terms of energy and water efficiency according to EDGE standards.
