Abstract

The material typically used as fine aggregate in flexible pavement mixtures, one of which is sand, has become relatively expensive and scarce. Therefore, there is a need for research using alternative materials as a substitute for fine aggregate, namely the waste from self-recovery concrete samples remaining from laboratory testing. The aim of this research is to determine the impact of utilizing self-recovery concrete sample waste in AC-BC mixtures. This study employed the Marshall testing method, which refers to the 2018 Bina Marga Specification, Revision 2. The variations in the percentage of self-recovery concrete sample waste utilization relative to the total weight of sand are 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%. In this research, the optimum asphalt content obtained was 5.25%. As the percentage of waste added to the mixture increased, both the VMA and VIM values increased, meanwhile the VFB parameter decreased with the increasing composition of waste utilization raging from 73.41 - 68.88 %, but still met the 2018 Bina Marga Specification, Revision 2. The stability values for the percentage of self-recovery concrete sample waste utilization, from the smallest to the largest, were 1227 Kg, 1105 Kg, 1050.1 Kg, 955 Kg, and 832 Kg. Despite the decrease in stability, it still met the established standards. The flow values in this study experienced fluctuations but remained within specification standards. In this research, all variations of self-recovery concrete sample waste substitution percentages used met the minimum requirements of the 2018 Bina Marga Specification, Revision 2.
