Abstract
Concrete is the most widely used material in the world in building construction. The more human needs in the use of concrete, the more building materials are needed. This caused some people to start developing inventions by replacing and adding materials with materials to strengthen and partially replace cement. In this case, the added materials used are silica gel and carbide waste. This study used a 15cm x 30 cm cylindrical sample. The percentage of silica gel addition is 8% of the cement weight and the use of carbide waste as a cement substitute has 5 variants, namely 0%, 5%, 10%, 13% and 16% of the total cement weight. The method used to calculate the concrete mixture (mix design) based on SNI 03-2834-2000. Testing was carried out at the age of 28 days. The slump value in normal concrete is 105.5 mm, concrete that uses a mixture of silica gel and carbide waste as a partial replacement for cement against compressive strength in concrete at 28 days of treatment with a percentage of silica gel 8% and 5% carbide waste the average slump value is 110.5 mm, while at a percentage of silica gel 8% and 10% carbide waste the average slump value is 119 mm, then at a percentage of silica gel 8%, 13% carbide waste and a percentage of silica gel 8%, 16% carbide waste has decreased the average slump value of the 10% carbide waste content, namely 110 mm and 108 mm. So it can be seen that concrete using silica gel and carbide waste is thinner than normal concrete. The value of compressive strength in normal concrete is 27.176 Mpa, concrete that uses a mixture of silica gel and carbide waste as a substitute for part of the cement on the compressive strength of concrete at 28 days of treatment with the percentage of silica gel addition of 8% and 5% carbide waste, the average value of concrete compressive strength is 27.364 MPa, while at the percentage of silica gel 8% and 10% carbide waste the average value of concrete compressive strength is 24.817 MPa, and at the percentage of silica gel 8% and 13% carbide waste the average value of concrete compressive strength is 23.401 MPa, then at the percentage of silica gel 8% and 16% carbide waste the average value of concrete compressive strength is 22.269. So at 5% presentation, the compressive strength value has increased by 0.691% from normal concrete, but at 10%, 13%, and 16% the compressive strength value has decreased from normal concrete.
