Abstract

Ecotourism can be an alternative form of tourism that is good according to experience and respect for the environment or as a component in a related cultural context. To achieve ecotourism, it is necessary to look again at the application of ecotourism principles that have been carried out through ecotourism-based principles. Kampar Regency has a land area of 566,121 Ha, which has many protected forest areas. One of the existing protected forests is the Rumbio Customary Forest, which is also called a forbidden/customary forest or protected forest. The purpose of this study was to identify the ecotourism principles of Rumbio Customary Forest in supporting tourism in Kampar Regency. The research approach used is a qualitative research approach. Presented in a qualitative descriptive form. This research was conducted in the Rumbio Customary Prohibition Forest, Kampar Regency. The analysis technique used is descriptive analysis and qualitative descriptive analysis. From the results of the research, it was found that the Rumbio Customary Prohibition Forest, which has a lot of rich flora and fauna in it, but still has deficiencies in the lack of access to tourism support facilities, due to its location in a village. The conservation principles applied to the Rumbio Customary Prohibition Forest are fully played by the ninik mamak, the community always holds deliberations headed by the ninik mamak on activities related to the Rumbio Customary Prohibition Forest and uses six (6) conservation principles that are used to preserve the Indigenous Prohibition Forest Homeland Rumbio. The strategy used in the research consists of five (5) ecotourism elements, namely: nature protection, product development, infrastructure development, marketing and promotion, and industrial involvement.Ecotourism Principles, Conservation, Indigenous Forest, Rumbio
