Abstract

THE INFLUENCE OF SHARIA FINANCIAL LITERACY AND SOCIAL MEDIA ON INTEREST IN SHARIA STOCK INVESTMENT AMONG ISLAMIC BANKING STUDENTS IN PEKANBARU HABIBURRAHMAN ABSTRACT Before starting to invest, individuals needed to have basic financial literacy related to investment. This basic financial literacy served as a foundation for making smart investment decisions, managing and planning investments, and minimizing risks associated with financial investments. The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of sharia financial literacy and social media on the interest in sharia stock investment among Islamic banking students in Pekanbaru. This research was field research conducted directly with respondents. The population comprised Islamic banking students in Pekanbaru, specifically from three universities: Islamic University of Riau, University of Muhammadiyah Riau, and State Islamic University of Sultan Syarif Kasim. The sampling technique involved a subset of the population. From a total population of 495 students, a sample of 83 respondents was determined using the Slovin formula and collected through purposive sampling. Data were measured using a Likert scale and processed with SPSS 27. The results showed that sharia financial literacy influenced investment interest, indicated by t-value 5.730 > t-table 1.98 and a significance of 0.001 < 0.005. Social media also influenced investment interest, with a t-value of 3.563 > t-table 1.98 and a significance of 0.012 < 0.005. Simultaneously, sharia financial literacy and social media significantly influenced investment interest, with a significance value of 0.001 < 0.05 and an F-value of 5.251 > F-table 2.234. This indicated that both variables, either individually or combined, affected investment interest.
