Abstract
Based on observations conducted in the sixth grade of Elementary School IT Insan Utama 1 Pekanbaru, there was a decrease in students' willingness and motivation to delve deeper into learning the Arabic. The learning atmosphere was monotonous, and there was a lack of vocabulary due to their background in speaking Arabic. This was reflected in the low scores on daily assessments. With the implementation of a method that made learning more effective, as methods served as a means and one of the tools to achieve the goal. One active model in learning the Arabic language is the muhawarah method. The research method employed in this study was quantitative experimental research. Quantitative research involves empirical approaches to collecting, analyzing, and presenting data in numerical rather than narrative form. The research design used in this study was the one-group pretest-posttest design. In this design, a pretest was conducted before the treatment was given. The reason for choosing this research was that the researcher wanted to see accurate results through several tests conducted, namely with a pretest (before treatment) and a posttest (after treatment). Based on the research conducted, it showed that the alternative hypothesis (ha) was accepted. The alternative hypothesis was accepted because t0 is bigger than tt, with a significance level of 5%, comparing the magnitude of "t" obtained by the researcher (t0 = 1.012) and the "t" listed on tt, which was 0.610 (1.012 > 0.610). This indicated that the muhawarah method could improve Arabic speaking skills in children at a significance level of 5%.
