Abstract

This study was motivated by the fact that some students at Elementary School Sains Tahfiz Islamic Center, Siak Regency, Riau, had low academic achievement. The low academic performance was caused by various factors, one of which was the family environment. The study aimed to determine whether the family environment influenced students' academic achievement at Elementary School Sains Tahfiz Islamic Center, Siak Regency, Riau. A quantitative research method with a simple causal design was employed to examine the effect of the family environment on academic achievement. The research was conducted at Elementary School Sains Tahfiz Islamic Center, Siak Regency, Riau, during the even semester of the 2023/2024 academic year, from February to June 2024. The population consisted of 107 fifth-grade students, and the sample size was 107 students using a total sampling technique. Data analysis was carried out using simple linear regression analysis. Based on hypothesis testing, the significance value was found to be less than 0.05, indicating a significant influence of the family environment on students' academic achievement. Therefore, it was suggested that parents create a comfortable family environment with positive habits and discipline to enhance students' awareness of their responsibilities, ultimately leading to improved academic performance in school.
