Abstract

THE INFLUENCE OF PARENTING STYLES ON STUDENTS’ RESPECTFUL ATTITUDES TOWARDS TEACHERS AT SMAN 1 KANDIS BY TARI ARNITA 202410022 This study was motivated by the problems of the ta'dzim (respectful) attitude of students in class XII at SMAN 1 Kandis such as being disobedient and impolite to the teachers, speaking loudly when asking the teachers, walking ahead of the teachers, refuting the teachers’ words, comparing teachers to other teachers and not listening to the teachers’ instructions. The study aimed to investigate the influence of parenting styles on students' ta'dzim attitudes towards teachers at SMAN 1 Kandis. The type of the study was quantitative research with a correlational approach. The sample of the study consisted of 139 students. The data collection technique of the study were questionnaires and documentation. This study consisted of two variables, variable X (parenting style) and variable Y (ta'dzim attitude). Based on the the study, it was known that the result of the hypothesis testing value was 0.001 < 0.05, meaning that there was an influence of parenting styles on students’ ta'dzim attitudes towards teachers at SMAN 1 Kandis. The magnitude of the influence based on the summary table showed that the R-squared value was 0.81 or 8.1%. This showed that the students’ ta'dzim attitudes were influenced by the parenting styles by 8.1% or in the "Very Low" category. In conclusion, the results of the study showed that there was an influence of parenting styles on the students’ ta’dzim attitudes at SMAN 1 Kandis. Therefore, it is very important to improve the students’ ta'dzim attitudes by using parenting styles so that the students' ta'dzim attitudes can improve even more. ?
