Abstract

Cities were initially small-scale settlements, then experienced development as a result of population growth, socio-economic and cultural changes as well as interactions with other cities and surrounding areas. Pelalawan Regency is one of the regions in Riau Province and is based on the Decree of the Regent of Pelalawan KPTS. 050/BAPPEDA/757/2014 concerning Location of Housing and Slum Settlements, for the area of ??Pelalawan Regency slum settlements, it is 70.94 Ha. The slum typology of Pangkalan Kerinci Subdistrict is a slum settlement near the center of socio-economic activities. Slum settlements near centers of socio-economic activity are slum settlements. In this research, the data used was the distribution of questionnaires to residents living in Kerinci Kota Subdistrict, a field survey conducted in Kerinci Kota Subdistrict and some data from related agencies. These data are used to find out how slum areas in Kerinci City Village are handled, which will later be processed using several analyzes including qualitative descriptive analysis and quantitative qualitative analysis using the Likert scale method. The results of the research show that the factors that most influence the causes of slums, the first factor is population (immigration/urbanization), the second factor is the condition of facilities and infrastructure, the third factor is socio-cultural conditions, the fourth factor is accessibility, the fifth factor is land, the sixth factor is socio-economic conditions, the seventh factor is education, and the eighth factor is spatial planning. Formulate a concept for handling slum areas in Kerinci Kota Subdistrict by carrying out repairs and forming a monitoring team to maintain them.
