Abstract

This research was motivated by the low level of student discipline, as indicated by symptoms such as students frequently arriving late to class, leaving class during lessons, and often being late for the five daily prayers. The research problem was formulated as follows: what efforts did the Principal of Islamic Senior High School make to improve student discipline at Darussalam Islamic Senior High School, Parmeraan, North Padang Lawas? The purpose of this research was to identify the efforts made by Principal to improve student discipline at Darussalam Islamic Senior High School, Parmeraan, North Padang Lawas. The main informant in this research was the Principal, with three senior teachers at Darussalam Islamic Senior High School, Parmeraan, North Padang Lawas, serving as supporting informants. The instrument used in this research was the researcher herself. The data collection techniques employed in this research were interviews and documentation. The data analysis technique used was qualitative data analysis, which included data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the research showed that the Principal’s efforts to improve student discipline at Darussalam Islamic Senior High School, Parmeraan, North Padang Lawas, included holding meetings to enforce school rules and cooperating with teachers. The Principal imposed strict punishments on students who violated the rules, set an example by adhering to all school regulations, provided a well-equipped library, improved the library’s layout, and enhanced library services.
