Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the influence of Islamic education on students’ polite attitudes in class XI at SMAN 1 Kerumutan, Pelalawan Regency. The Islamic education plays an important role in building students’ characters, including polite attitudes that reflect morals and ethics in everyday life. This study used a quantitative approach with a survey method. The data collection technique of the study was questionnaires given to 100 students of class XI as samples. The data analysis technique of the study was a simple linear regression to test the relationship between the Islamic education variable (X) and the students’ polite attitudes (Y). The results of the study showed that the Islamic education had a positive and significant influence on the students' polite attitudes. The coefficient of determination (R²) value was 0.68 indicating that 68% of the variation in students' polite attitudes was influenced by the Islamic education, while the remaining was influenced by other factors. These findings indicated that an effective Islamic education learning could significantly improve students' polite attitudes. This study suggests that the Islamic education teachers should continue to develop interesting and relevant learning methods, as well as instilling polite values through a practical approach in everyday life.
