Abstract

This study is motivated by the large number of small businesses that are forced to close down due to lack of capital for business. Conventional banks with their interest rates are unable to support the growth of small businesses because the amount of return that must be paid is not commensurate with the profit obtained by entrepreneurs. Therefore, the existence of Sharia Banks that using a profit sharing system is expected to be able to meet the business capital needs for small entrepreneurs. The aim of the study is to investigate the role of Riau Kepri Sharia Bank in Empowering Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises at Siak Sri Indrapura branch office. This is a field study with a qualitative descriptive approach. The informants of the study are marketing employees and customers who received micro, small and medium business financing from the Riau Kepri Sharia Bank of Siak Sri Indrapura branch office. The sampling technique of the study is the purposive sampling method. The results of the study show that the Riau Kepri Sharia Bank of Siak Sri Indrapura branch office has played a role in empowering micro, small and medium enterprises, such as financing business capital, consulting in business development, providing business guidance through seminars and conducting comparative studies with similar and different businesses that have developed. The empowerment carried out by Riau Kepri Sharia Bank is able to increase the productivity of micro, small and medium enterprises in Siak Sri Indrapura regency.
