Abstract

Learning is the key to every educational endeavor, so without learning actually there was no education. Because learning is a window to knowledge will open wider. This is part of the activity learning is reading. Reading activities for early childhood are called beginning reading, beginning reading is a stage of the learning process for kindergarten school students. This research was motivated by problems that show the reading ability of group B kindergarten children Esa Sejahtera still experiences a little difficulty in learning to read beginning. This can be seen because of the child's difficulty in following learning activities in class while class is in progress. Learning The field of reading ability at Esa Sejahtera Kindergarten only follows learning delivered by teachers and reading learning strategies are lacking varies. Learning activities that lack variety give rise to lack of providing opportunities for children to gain more systematic learning, related to these problems deemed necessary to improve processes and results, especially in activities learning to read. One of the efforts made is through use VAKT method (Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic and Tactile) for this research has the aim of knowing the extent of reading development in early childhood 5-6 years old Esa Sejahtera Kindergarten Pekanbaru. This research is experimental research, where the subjects of this research were group B There were 18 children but 3 of them had internal difficulties beginning reading. Data collection techniques in this research using time series data analysis techniques. The results of this research show that the instrument correlation has a calculated r value > r table (0.514> 0.6), so the hypothesis in this research is accepted. This means that there is an influence of the VAKT method on the development of early childhood reading skills in early childhood 5-6 years old Esa Sejahtera Kindergarten Pekanbaru. The magnitude of the influence on reading development The start of early childhood using the VAKT method can be seen in the intervention initial 33.34% to 92.7% or an increase of 59.36%.
