Abstract

This research aimed to investigate the efforts of Islamic Education teachers in improving students’ discipline at Junior High School 1 Peranap. In the context of this research problem, there was still a low level of student discipline. The symptoms of issues observed among students at Junior High School 1 Peranap, such as commonly found in several cases where students lacked discipline in dressing, were undisciplined in completing assignments, lacked discipline in studying, were undisciplined in arriving to class on time, and lacked discipline in coming to school. The objective of this research was to identify the efforts that should be made by an Islamic Education teacher. The method used in this research was qualitative with a case study approach. The informants in this research were Islamic education teachers and the school principal at Junior High School 1 Peranap. The results of this research indicated that the teachers addressed the issues by advising and reprimanding students to tidy up their clothing. Then, Ensuring they continued working on assignments until completion, imposing sanctions on students who refused to do their assignments, providing motivation and examples of behavior, reprimanding and imposing penalties when students were late as a means of improving their discipline, and warning students to avoid arriving late.
