Abstract
Increased industrial and transportation activities cause high production of pollutant gases, giving rise to global warming. Global warming will have an impact on increasing atmospheric pollution, thereby affecting air temperature. Rising air temperatures accompanied by high production of pollutant gases affect indoor air quality. In an effort to prevent an increase in air pollution and fine particles in the room, air ventilation is needed in a room so that healthy and comfortable air circulation occurs. Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV) is a mechanical ventilation device designed to ensure healthy air circulation in a room while maintaining energy efficiency. This research uses an HRV which is equipped with 4 Tecl-12706 type thermoelectrics on the HRV heatsink as an air cooler. The aim of this research is to find the feasibility and duration of HRV use based on measurements of indoor air temperature, air humidity, light intensity, and air ventilation speed in accordance with physical comfort standards for indoor air. Testing was carried out for 24 hours with an interval of 1 hour in a room measuring 3 x 3 meters. The research results obtained the following average values; Tin = 25.1 – 30.9°C, RH = 44 – 75%, Vin = 1.7 – 1.9 m/s and light intensity = 40 – 125 lux. Based on the results obtained, it shows that the use of HRV has met the physical comfort standards for indoor air for a certain duration of time. However, using HRV for 24 hours is considered to cause a fairly high increase in air humidity and is not in accordance with physical comfort standards for indoor air.
