Abstract

Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV) is an energy efficient mechanical ventilation system that operates between two sources at different temperatures. This tool has many advantages and benefits with cheaper maintenance and installation costs, so it is very helpful in efforts to save energy and its existence is increasingly being used. In big cities, people do more activities indoors which can affect the air condition in the room, so it's no wonder that a room must have a mechanical ventilation system. In this research, the manufacture and testing of Heat Recovery Ventilators was carried out, in which the manufacturing process was first carried out to obtain the optimal Heat Recovery Ventilator model, then carried out tests to determine its performance as a room temperature control device. This research was conducted by preparing measuring instruments in the form of anemometers, thermometers, hygrometers to test HRV performance and the materials to be used in the manufacturing process. Manufacturing is carried out in stages, starting with cutting heatsink plates, aluminum alma, particle boards, boards, and making patterns. After all the materials are cut according to the desired dimensions, then the installation is carried out on each of these materials. The Heat Recovery Ventilator model that has been made is a rectangular model equipped with two air ducts, a heat exchanger core unit and two fan units with 38 watts of power. After the model was obtained, it was then tested in a 3x3 m2 room with a time period of 30, 60, 90 and 120 minutes. The best results are obtained for 120 minutes with a fan speed of 2500 rpm which can produce a change in air temperature of 0.9 oC, the speed of air entering the room is 1.9 m/s and the humidity is 74%. The results of the Heat Recovery Ventilator test are good enough to be applied in a room, where its function is as a tool to recirculate indoor air
