Abstract
This study aims to investigate the strategies of Islamic Studies teacher in developing students’ learning interest at SMPIT Al-Husna Kubang Jaya. This study applies a qualitative method with a case study approach. The data collection technique of the study is interview with an Islamic Studies teacher as a main informant. The results of the study show that there are three main strategies of Islamic Studies teacher, namely teaching organizing tactic, teaching conveying tactic, and teaching management tactic. The teaching organizing tactic includes careful learning planning and preparation for interesting teaching materials. The teaching conveying tactic includes the use of various teaching methods that are interactive which can attract students’ attention. The teaching management tactic includes the effective classroom management and good time management. These three strategies have a significant impact on students’ interest in learning at SMPIT Al-Husna Kubang Jaya. In addition, there are four important indicators to assess students’ learning interest, namely the students’ enjoy feelings towards the learning about Islam, the students’ involvement in the learning process, the students’ interest in the subject matter, and the students’ attention to the teacher’s explanation.
