Abstract

Public awareness of the obligation to pay zakat is also related to public understanding. This understanding includes the knowledge of zakat and the benefits of zakat on economic welfare. To maximize zakat management, the government formed an institution that manages zakat funds, namely the National Zakat Amil Institution of Dompet Dhuafa Riau which was formed by the community and confirmed by the government. This study aims to investigate the influence of knowledge, belief and religosity on muzakkis’ decision to pay zakat to the Dompet Dhuafa Riau. The method of the study is quantitative. The sample of the study consists of 89 respondentstaken by a sampling technique of the Slovin formula, and the questionnaires are as the data collection technique. The data analysis technique of the study is multiple linear regression. The results of partial tests and simultaneous tests show that the knowledge, belief and religosity have a significant influence on the muzakkis’ decision to pay zakat. From the results of the correlation coefficient test, it is known that the correlation coefficient for the variable of knowledge, belief and religosity has an influence on the decision to pay zakat to the Dompet Dhuafa Riau of 69.0%. It means that the magnitude of the relationship among knowledge, belief and religosity is included in the category of sufficient relationship.
