Abstract
Welding is the joining of two or more metals by partially softening the base metal and filler metal regardless of the strain and additional metal and producing a joint that connects to each other. The aim of this research is to obtain bending strength, hardness strength and microstructure in welding joints of SUP9A leaf spring steel with various tempering temperature variations of 400°C, 460°C, 520°C, and nontempering. The welding process uses a SMAW welding machine with a current of 90 A, E7018 electrode wire with a diameter of 2.6 mm, the material used is SUP9A leaf spring steel with a thickness of 10 mm. The results of the research showed that in the bending test the highest average strength value was found in non-tempered at 129 MPa and the lowest average bending value in the 520°C variation was 112.5MPa, while the highest hardness result value was in nontempered at 46.6 HRc , and the lowest at the 520°C variation of 27.3 HRc, and then in the non-tempered microstructure test and the 400°C, 460°C variation, the material has soft material properties because the ferrite phase is more dominant than the pearlite phase and The 520°C variation has hard material properties because the pearlite phase is more dominant than the ferrite phase.
