Abstract
This study aims to find out how much influence the level of wear on the bit wit h the geometry variations of 80 0 , 85 0 , and 90 0 . In the process of turning flat ST 41 steel after embankment welding (Hardfacing) with a rotation speed of the machine used 360 rpm and feed rate of 0.06 mm. The research process begins with making workpieces made of cylindrical steel with a length of 100 mm, the material carries out the embankment welding process with a welding length of 30 mm and 3 mm thick embankment welding from workpieces with an initial diameter of 30 mm to 33 mm and turned into 30 mm. The tools used in this study were conventional lathes, SMAW welding transformers, bench grinding machines, sawing machines, digital Olympus microscopes, calipers and protractors. While the material for this research is ST 41 steel with carbon composition containing 0.8% - 0.20%. In this study, the value of edge wear (VB) was low, the angle of the cutting edge was 90 0 in the third 1 mm ingestion, for the highest value of the corner wear was the angle of the cutting edge, 80 0 and 85 0 in the first and second 1 mm ingestion. Better flat machining results.
