Abstract
Theft, as an act that involves taking goods belonging to another person without permission or appropriate legality, and clearly violates applicable legal norms, causing material or non-material harm to the owner of the goods. Theft that often occurs in the jurisdiction of the Siak Police is theft with violence which is carried out by taking someone's rights without permission and carrying out the action which is preceded and followed by physical violence which is threatened by criminal law in Article 365 of the Criminal Code. Based on the above, the formulation of the problem that arises is the first What are the factors that cause violent theft in the jurisdiction of the Siak Police. The second what are the police's efforts to deal with violent theft in the Siak Police Legal Area The research was carried out using a normative juridical and empirical juridical approach, an approach carried out by examining theories, concepts and statutory regulations related to this research and also by looking at the facts in practice in the field with the aim of seeing the reality or concrete facts regarding the police's efforts to overcome violent theft crimes. Based on the results of research and discussion, the factors that cause violent theft in the Siak Police jurisdiction are: First, environmental factors or the area is surrounded by oil palm plantations and quiet forests, making it possible for criminal acts of theft and violence to occur. Second, the economic condition (poverty) of the people of Siak Regency increases every year, thereby stimulating violent crimes of theft. The police's efforts to tackle theft with violence in the Siak Police's legal area are preventive efforts, which aim to prevent criminal acts of theft before they occur, including the preventive actions carried out by the Siak Police, namely: Patrols or siskamling. As well as an appeal to increase vigilance. Repressive efforts include taking action and carrying out legal proceedings against the perpetrators by arresting and disclosing the network and continuing the process in accordance with the rules and regulations. Continuing the process of resolving cases resulting from prosecution in the form of publication to the public.
