Abstract

This research is motivated by the fact that there are still teachers who are lacking in managing learning in the classroom, such as using less varied learning methods so that students feel bored and causing some students to withdraw during PAI lesson hours, and there are still students who have not can read the Koran. The aims of this research are: 1) To find out what the principal's efforts are to improve the pedagogical competence of PAI teachers at SMA Negeri 2 Siak Sri Indrapura, 2) To find out what the principal's obstacles are in improving the pedagogical competence of PAI teachers at SMA Negeri 2 Siak Sri Indrapura. . This research uses descriptive qualitative methods. The main informant is the school principal and the supporting informant is the PAI teacher. The data collection techniques used were interview and documentation techniques. The data analysis techniques used to answer research problems are data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. As for the results of this research, there are efforts by the principal to improve the pedagogical competence of PAI teachers, namely: providing motivation to teachers, participating in Subject Teacher Conferences, holding workshops and carrying out supervision through class visits.
