Abstract

Technological growth has positive and negative sides. The positive side of technological developments is the ease of obtaining information and also the ease of transactions. One technology that makes it easier for humans to make transactions is ATM. Meanwhile, the negative side of the development of this technology is that the convenience provided is used in the wrong way, resulting in many crimes occurring, including the crime of theft in the form of blocking automated teller machines (ATMs). Based on the background of the problem that the author describes above, the author determines first what are the factors in the occurrence of criminal acts of theft with weights in the form of blocking Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) in the Legal Area of the Pelalawan Police and how to overcome criminal acts of theft with weightings in the form of blocking Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) ) in the Legal Area of Pelalawan Police. If you pay attention to the type of research, this research can be classified as empirical/sociological research using a survey method, namely research directly with respondents using data collection tools in the form of interviews. Meanwhile, if you pay attention to its nature, this research is descriptive analytical, that is, the research is intended to provide a detailed, clear and sequential explanation of the main research problem. The results of the research show that the factors causing the perpetrator to commit the crime of theft with the weight of blocking an ATM consist of (1) Internal factors, namely the perpetrator's intention; educational factors; and the factor of lack/weak faith; and (2) External factors, namely economic factors and environmental factors. Efforts to overcome the crime of theft with weights in the form of blocking ATMs are as follows: (1) Pelalawan Police has carried out outreach with Bhabinkamtibmas; carry out outreach with the community; and distributing stickers with police call center numbers in public places, (2) The bank is guarding ATM machines; providing education to customers both through CS and social media; and informing security about problems related to ATMs, as well as (3) Supermarkets, namely adding CCTV cameras in ATM rooms in supermarkets; remind customers/consumers not to give pins to just anyone; and ask security for help if you experience problems with the ATM machine.
