Abstract

The Seberida Police Area is the East Cross Road which is a connecting traffic between cities which is often traversed by private vehicles and public vehicles coming from outside Riau Province and from within Riau Province, even heavy vehicles transporting palm oil, wood, etc. coming from factories located in the area. Because this area is an eastern route, every year there is an increase in traffic accidents which cause deaths. The formulation of the problem in this research is: First, how is law enforcement in cases of traffic crimes that result in the death of people in the Seberida Police Legal Area? What are the obstacles to law enforcement in cases of traffic crimes that result in the death of people in the jurisdiction of the Seberida Police? This research uses a type of empirical sociological research, Observational Research, namely the method of going directly into the field to obtain data. The data used is secondary data and the data collection techniques used are observation, interview and documentation techniques. Meanwhile, the method for drawing conclusions is the deductive method, namely drawing conclusions from general things to specific things. The results of the research and discussion were found as follows, First, law enforcement against perpetrators of criminal traffic accidents which resulted in the death of victims in the jurisdiction of the Seberida Police has been carried out in accordance with applicable laws and regulations and coordination has been carried out in accordance with the standard operational procedures of each enforcement apparatus. law such as police, prosecutors, judges. The two obstacles in enforcing the law in cases of traffic crimes that result in the death of people in the jurisdiction of the Seberida Police are evidence that is not strong enough or evidence is lost, limited witnesses because the accident occurred in a quiet and remote place or occurred at night, obstacles in traffic. identification processes such as the driver running away and taking DNA samples or accidents involving many vehicles and the vehicles do not have registration numbers, cost and time of investigation, lack of officers present at the time of the traffic accident
