Abstract
The method employed in this research was the qualitative method, population of this study was the whole eleventh grade students, and the sample of this study was XI IPS 1, the researcher uses document analysis to collect the data and analyze students’ speaking ability through video recording task by using rubric score form by Haris (1969) and Brown (2004) to get the objective score. The results of this study is, the aspect that is most mastered by students is comprehension, this can be prove by the highest average score obtained by students is comprehension with a score of 2.9, then the aspect that is less mastered by students is grammar, and can also be shown by the students' average score of 2.6. However, they have to practice more and improve their skills in these five aspects to improve their speaking ability it can be concluded that majority of the students are in good level of speaking ability. Besides, the video recording task can be used to develop student speaking ability in learning. It proved by the following facts that researcher found after the research.
