Abstract

This research was derived to explain and measure the deep knowledge of the students related to vocabulary. This research was a quantitative research. The test was used to know how is the students' deep of vocabulary knowledge the total of sample were 60 students. Further, there were three indicators in this research. They were word definition, multiple-meaning vocabulary, and morphological awareness. The students were asked to pass the test. The data showed that there were 60 students that followed the test. The students were asked to identify the base word from the words that were provided by the researcher. Considering to the result, it can be seen that the minimum score was 30 and the maximum score was 56 with the mean score was 42,32 from maximum score 60. Based on the data analysis, there were some students did not know the base words from some words. They only separated the suffix or prefix from the word but it made the meaning of the words had been changed. It was caused by there were some students had the limited knowledge about the suffix or prefix in a word. Based on the finding on three indicators, it can be seen that almost all students approach the maximum value in each indicator of vocabulary depth. Based on the obtained test results can be concluded that students still need to explore the vocabulary thoroughly so as to increase their vocabulary.
