Abstract

Illocutionary speech acts apart from giving information about something, also contain more of the meaning of the utterances spoken, and must also pay attention to the context in the utterances. The problem in this study is how are the illocutionary speech acts in the Democracy Notes program on Tv One? The purpose of this study is to describe the illocutionary speech acts contained in the Democracy Notes program on Tv One. The approach in this research is a qualitative approach with content analysis method. The data in this study are the speeches of the presenters and resource persons who are included in the illocutionary in the Notes on Democracy Rejecting Postponement of Elections: Students Finally Take to the Streets on Tv One. Data collection techniques used in this study are: documentation techniques, observation techniques, and note-taking techniques. The data analysis technique used is a content analysis technique using Bungin's theory (2017: 231). Based on the research results, it can be concluded that there were 150 data containing illocutionary speech acts. Then from the five forms of illocutionary speech acts the writer only found four illocutionary speech acts, namely, assertive, directive, commissive, and expressive. Assertive speech acts were found in 106 speech data. Directive illocutionary speech acts found 30 speech data. There are 3 commissive illocutionary speech acts, and 11 utterances found for expressive illocutionary speech acts. Meanwhile, declarative illocutionary speech acts are not found in the program Notes on Democracy Rejecting Postponement of Elections: Students Finally Take to the Streets on Tv One. There are no declarative speech acts in this study, because there are no elements related to specific institutional roles. Meanwhile, in a debate, regardless of position, everyone has the right to speak equally and all are equal in the debate.
