Abstract

Based on the results of interviews and observations with Indonesian language teachers, it is known that not all students are capable of constructing text structures and using language. Not all students have that talent to write, the lack of creativity of students in imagination so that students are less able to write narrative texts. In one class there are still some children who are lacking in writing narrative texts. The ability to write narrative texts for class VII students of SMP Negeri 25 Pekanbaru is in the moderate category with a score of 75. Based on this, (1) How is the ability to write narrative texts for class VII students of SMP Negeri 25 Pekanbaru in the 2021/2022 academic year in terms of text structure? (2) How is the ability to write narrative texts for class VII students of SMP Negeri 25 Pekanbaru in the 2021/2022 Academic Year in terms of the use of language. The purposes of this study were (1) to describe, analyze and interpret data on the ability to write narrative texts for class VII students of SMP Negeri 25 Pekanbaru for the 2021/2022 academic year in terms of text structure. (2) Describe, analyze and interpret data on the ability to write narrative texts for class VII students of SMP Negeri 25 Pekanbaru for the 2021/2022 Academic Year in terms of language use. The research method used is descriptive method with a quantitative approach. Data collection techniques used are observation techniques and test techniques. The data analysis technique used is (1) examining and examining each sheet of student learning outcomes. (2) Students' ability to write narrative texts is assessed using an assessment rubric. (3) Determine student grades. (4) Presenting the correct answers, in order to find out the average value of all samples, using the Sudijono formula (2012:81). (5) Enter the value of writing narrative text into the category table according to the aspect being assessed. The conclusions in this study are (1) The average ability to write narrative texts for class VII students of SMP Negeri 25 Pekanbaru in the 2021/2022 academic year in terms of text structure = 76.3, so the ability to write narrative texts for class VII students of SMP Negeri 25 Pekanbaru in terms of structure good category text. (2) The average ability to write narrative texts for class VII students of SMP Negeri 25 Pekanbaru in the Academic Year 2021/2022 seen from the use of language = 83.5, so the ability to write narrative texts for class VII students of SMP Negeri 25 Pekanbaru seen from the use of language is in a good category.
