Abstract
ST 37 steel is a type of low carbon steel with a chemical composition of 0.5% which is widely used for various equipment from household furniture, factory needs, to industry. just damage or destroy the material due to chemical reactions in the surrounding environment there have been many studies or methods carried out to be able to reduce the corrosion rate of metals, one of which is by adding inhibitors. Kepok banana peel is one of the plants to be used as a corrosion inhibitor because it contains tannins. The tannins have complex compounds that can be used as inhibitors to protect metals from corrosion. In this study, using NaCl media, corrosion tests were carried out at various inhibitor concentrations, namely 1%, 2%, 3%, 4%, and 5%, with a soaking time of 25 days and then the weight loss method was calculated using the corrosion rate measurement method. is a method of losing weight. In terms of material weight loss, the peak corrosion rate was found in the condition without inhibitor, which was 0.18 mg. While the lowest value was found in the material soaked in media with the addition of 4% inhibitor, namely 0.086 mg. From the results of the corrosion rate, the largest loss in material weight was found in the condition without inhibitor, namely, 0.195 mg. While the lowest value was found in the material soaked in media with the addition of 4% inhibitor, namely 0.094 mg. And from the value of the highest inhibitor efficiency occurs at a concentration of 4% inhibitor that is 51.784 mg.
