Abstract

Dentures are part of the teeth that are in contact with the soft tissues of the oral cavity. denture parts are not part of the denture base (McCabe et al, 2008). Durability, performance and basic properties of dentures are greatly influenced by the base material. Various materials have been used to make dentures, but there is no single material that can meet all the material requirements of dentures (Fransisca and Wennie, 2013). Acrylic resins used in restorative denture dentistry are widely used in the dental medical field because they have good optical properties and low solubility in body solutions (Raszewski et al, 2013). Chicken eggshells contain calcium and other components such as magnesium, boron, copper, iron, sulfur and calcium. Calcium from egg shells is the best natural source of calcium when compared to calcium from limestone and coral (King Ori. A. M, 2011). After impact testing, the highest result was obtained at a mesh particle size of 200 with a value of 31.07 joules and the lowest at a mesh size of 80 with a value of 29.04 joules. Meanwhile, in the hardness test, the best results remained at mesh size 200 with a value of 14.44 Kg/mm² and the lowest result was at mesh size 80 with a value of 14.03 Kg/mm². After the tests above, microstructural observations were carried out again with the best results on a mesh size of 200 seen from a smooth surface and no accumulation and the lowest results on a mesh size of 80 seen from a rough surface and accumulation under the specimen.
