Abstract

Textbooks for learning to read are still difficult to obtain, based on initial surveys that have been conducted in several libraries at Riau University, Riau Islamic University, Sultan Syarif Kasim State Islamic University, and Lancang Kuning University. The problem in this study is how effective is the effectiveness of textbooks for learning to read containing Riau Malay folklore? So this study aims to determine the effectiveness of reading learning textbooks containing Riau Malay folklore. The research method used is the experimental method part of the development method, this research uses a quantitative approach. The data collection technique used is the test technique, the test used to collect data is the pretest and posttest scores in the experimental class and the control class. The data analysis technique uses the t-test which has previously been known for its normality, homogeneity and linearity. The results of this study indicate that the experimental class obtained an average pretest value of 59.43 and the control class obtained an average pretest value of 52.00. In the experimental class, the posttest average value was 81.14 and in the control class, the posttest average value was 71.81. The results of testing the second hypothesis, the posttest results of the experimental class and control class obtained t count of 4.968 and a significance value of 0.00. The significance value stated is less than 0.05, it can be stated that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, which means that there is a significant difference in the posttest results of the experimental class and the control class. So, it can be concluded that reading learning textbooks containing Riau Malay folklore can be said to be affective.
